Sr Software Engineer - Developer Productivity

The Developer Productivity team at Taskrabbit builds the tools, platform infrastructure, and

AI-native engineering capabilities that help engineers move faster and deliver high-quality

software with confidence. We own critical engineering infrastructure, including CI/CD, developer

tooling, platform modernization, and Taskrabbit’s emerging AI agent and developer AI

infrastructure.

As a Software Engineer on the team, you’ll contribute to a five-pillar roadmap spanning developer support, platform modernization, AI-native engineering, self-service developer platforms, and quality and testing infrastructure.

You’ll own and improve the reliability of the platforms and workflows that Taskrabbit engineers

depend on every day. Because Developer Productivity works horizontally across the engineering organization, you’ll have direct visibility into where engineering time is being lost and the opportunity to solve problems that improve the experience of many teams at once.

Your work will include reducing developer friction, improving CI/CD reliability and performance,

automating repetitive workflows, expanding self-service capabilities, and building the next generation of AI-powered developer tooling. You’ll be responsible for helping engineers stay

unblocked while continuously improving the systems that make software development at Taskrabbit faster, safer, and more effective.

Required Skills

We’re looking for a mid-to-senior level engineer with strong fundamentals in backend services, cloud infrastructure, and CI/CD, along with hands-on experience applying AI and LLM tooling to

real developer workflows. This goes beyond using AI coding assistants. We’re looking for someone interested in building the platforms, services, and infrastructure that enable AI-powered engineering experiences.

To be successful in this role, you should have:

● Strong experience building and operating backend services and cloud-based systems.

● Hands-on experience with CI/CD systems, developer tooling, or engineering infrastructure.

● Practical experience building with AI/LLMs, including integrating models, agents, APIs, or AI-powered workflows into developer-facing systems.

● Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with developers, architects, Senior Engineers, and Staff Engineers.

● A highly collaborative mindset, with comfort working across teams to understand developer pain points, investigate complex problems, and shape effective solutions.

● The ability to partner with Senior and Staff Engineers on technical problems, contribute to solution design, and help translate broader engineering strategy into reliable, maintainable systems.

● Curiosity and a problem-solving mindset, especially around improving developer experience, reducing friction, and identifying opportunities for automation andself-service.

Core Technical Requirements:

● TypeScript/Node.js (strong proficiency)

● NestJS framework and microservices architecture

● Kubernetes, Docker, Helm, and container orchestration

● Kafka and event-driven systems

● CircleCI and GitHub Actions

● Docker Compose and local development environment setup

● Strong experience in building AI agents, best practices around leveraging AI to improve

developer productivity (GitHub Copilot, Claude, etc.)

● Familiarity with LLM APIs and prompt engineering

Nice-to-have

Experience in one or more of the following areas would be a plus:

● Ruby on Rails and React

● AWS services such as Lambda, S3, DynamoDB, and API Gateway

● Terraform or other Infrastructure as Code tools

● Building chatbots, AI-powered developer tools, or agentic workflows

● Integrating with developer platforms and APIs such as GitHub and Confluence

● EventCatalog or similar service ownership and architecture cataloging tools

● API design using OpenAPI and AsyncAPI specifications

● Monorepo tooling and package management, including pnpm workspaces

● Data seeding frameworks, test data orchestration, or developer environment automation
