Staff Accountant - Accounts Payable

The Staff Accountant will play a key role in supporting Choreo's accounting operations and financial reporting processes. This individual will own critical accounts payable and expense management processes while supporting monthly close activities, reconciliations, and continuous process improvement initiatives. The position offers broad exposure across the Finance organization and the opportunity to contribute to a growing national wealth management firm.

The role is 100% remote (working EST hours) and an ideal candidate is organized and can multitask to help the team meet its goals and deadlines; is a self-starter but unafraid to ask questions or make suggestions; and someone who works collaboratively and is solution oriented.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Own the end-to-end accounts payable process, ensuring accurate, timely vendor payments, strong internal controls, and positive experience for both vendors and internal stakeholders.
• Specific responsibilities include maintaining approval chains, setup new vendors (including obtaining W-9 and payment instructions), control of A/P email box where vendors send invoices, entry of vendor invoices in ERP software (Microsoft Business Central), 1099 reporting at year-end, accruals, and vendor inquiries and issue resolution.
• Responsible for employee Expense Reporting process using Chrome River including maintaining active/inactive employees, approval chains in software, review coding before approving, running processes to import into ERP, ensuring payment and working with employees on questions and issues.
• Assist with monthly close procedures including preparation of journal entries and accruals.
• Prepare account reconciliations and supporting subledgers (cash, liabilities, fixed assets, payroll, etc).
• Assist with Accounts Receivable process including setup of new customers, generating invoices, and cash application.
• Ad hoc reporting and research as needed. Work closely with Controller and CFO on requests, due diligence during acquisitions, audits, state and local filings, and other projects.
• Provide information and answer questions from the business regarding expenses coded to their P&L.
• Identify opportunities to automate, streamline, and improve accounting processes, controls, and reporting capabilities.
• Assist in the preparation and analysis of monthly operating results, including investigation of budget-to-actual and forecast variances.
• Support the maintenance of strong internal controls, documentation, and accounting procedures to ensure accuracy, compliance, and operational efficiency.

Basic Qualifications:

• Four-year degree from an accredited university, preferably in accounting or finance
• Minimum 2 years accounting experience with emphasis in AP/AR
• Working knowledge of GAAP and basic accounting principles
• Strong analytical, Excel, and problem-solving skills
• Experience with enterprise-grade accounting software (Microsoft Business Central a plus)
• Strong written and oral communication skills; quick to respond
• Attention to detail and the ability to spot errors and inconsistencies
• Team player with the ability to work independently
• Ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining quality levels
• Excellent time management and organizational skills
• Ability to work effectively in a fully remote environment while maintaining strong communication and responsiveness
