TeamSnap is hiring a Principal Product Manager, Ads to reimagine and build an advertising solution for the next generation of our platform.

TeamSnap today has a scaled advertising business. For years, top national and regional brands have reached millions of youth sports families through the TeamSnap app. What's next is building an ad product for where we're going. As we bring our millions of parents, coaches, and players onto a new, unified TeamSnap experience, the ads business gets rebuilt with it, from a blank slate.

This is a unique and rare product opportunity. You'll be rebuilding advertising at a company that has already proven the demand — real advertisers, real revenue — and playing the lead role in deciding what the future of advertising looks like at TeamSnap. The formats, the placements, the measurement, and the standards that keep all of it worthy of the families who trust us and deliver on our advertisers' objectives.

You'll own the product side of that ad platform end to end — partnering with Design on native ad experiences, with Engineering on the serving and measurement infrastructure, and with our Ad Sales team on the inventory and packaging they take to market. You'll report to VP Product and work closely with senior leaders across the company on one of TeamSnap's top strategic priorities.

What You'll Do:

• Own the advertising product roadmap end to end — from ad format and placement strategy through serving infrastructure, targeting, measurement, and reporting.

• Design and launch native, integrated ad experiences in partnership with Product Design. Our thesis is that ads on TeamSnap should feel like part of the product and drive value for both our consumer users and advertisers.

• Own the serving and targeting stack: ad server implementation, trafficking and campaign delivery workflows, private marketplace deal setup, and the first-party signal work that makes our inventory worth buying — getting the right context to the ad call so it can be used for targeting.

• Build the measurement foundation: impression and viewability tracking, event instrumentation, third-party verification where advertisers require it, advertiser-facing reporting, and the experimentation framework to improve placements and creative over time.

• Own ad quality, density, and user experience standards — where ads appear, how often, and what we won't do.

• Partner with Ad Sales and Revenue Operations to turn product capability into sellable inventory — packaging, the targeting taxonomy they sell against, rate card inputs, and campaign delivery and pacing.

• Model and forecast the business. Build the volume, fill rate, and eCPM models that tell us which placements are worth building, and what has to be true for a given format to pay for itself.

• Own privacy and compliance requirements for ad targeting and data use, in partnership with Legal — including how children's data is treated, given the families we serve.

• Work in ambiguity. Break down an undefined space into a sequenced plan, make practical tradeoffs between revenue, engineering cost, and user impact, and bring partners along with a clear point of view.

What Will Set You Up for Success:

• 7-10 years in product management, with meaningful time spent on the publisher/supply side of the ads ecosystem — building and monetizing ad inventory inside a consumer product.

• Direct experience launching or scaling ad products in a consumer mobile app (iOS and Android), including the platform-specific realities: SDK integration, ATT and IDFA, store policy, app release cycles, and how those constrain what you can ship and when.

• Deep, hands-on technical fluency with the publisher ad stack: ad server implementation and trafficking (Google Ad Manager or equivalent), programmatic guaranteed and private marketplace deals, key-value and audience targeting, ad SDK integration, VAST and video formats. You should be able to hold your own in an engineering design review.

• Command of the economics: fill rate, eCPM, RPM, sell-through, viewability, latency, and how each moves in response to product decisions. Comfortable pricing inventory without an auction to tell you what it's worth. You can build the model yourself and defend the assumptions.

• Experience working alongside a direct ad sales organization — translating between what sales wants to sell and what the product can actually deliver, and building the packaging that closes the gap.

• Demonstrated judgment about ads and user experience. A track record of shipping monetization that didn't degrade the product, and clear thinking on where the lines belong.

• Strong data instincts. Comfortable in product analytics tools (Amplitude or similar) and SQL-adjacent enough to interrogate your own funnels rather than waiting on someone else to.

Bonus:

• Experience with rewarded video, pre-roll, or other video monetization formats.

• Background in a subscription business where advertising had to coexist with a paid tier without cannibalizing it.

• Working knowledge of children's privacy regimes — COPPA and its state-level equivalents — as they apply to advertising.

• First-party data and audience signal work: building the pipeline that carries publisher context into targeting decisions.

• Familiarity with sports, media, or a community-driven consumer platform.

Compensation

We're committed to equitable compensation for all TeamSnappers. The minimum starting point for this role is $180,000 inclusive of base and bonus, with comp updated based on multiple factors. Our comp is highly competitive in our space and we adjust overall comp based on relevant experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location.

Location

TeamSnap is a fully remote company, so you need to be very comfortable working with people who aren’t in the same time zone as you. We are always expanding, but there is a small list of states we do not hire in, including Alabama, Alaska, Delaware, District of Columbia, Hawaii, Iowa, Louisiana, Mississippi, Nebraska, New Mexico, Rhode Island, South Dakota West Virginia and Utah and while we love all parts of the world, we can only hire permanent US residents at this time.
