Staff Platform Engineer

iFIT’s vision is to create the world's most holistic health and fitness platform, integrating all elements of health - physical fitness, mental health, nutrition and active recovery - into a seamless interactive experience. We develop proprietary software that learns and adjusts to the habits of each person as it delivers immersive content that guides them on their own individual fitness journey.

We are currently seeking an ambitious pace-setter to join our team as a Staff DevOps Engineer remotely in the US.

iFIT is looking for a hands-on Staff DevOps Engineer to join our platform infrastructure team. This is primarily an individual contributor role — roughly 75% hands-on engineering and 25% architecture and mentorship — where you will write Terraform, build GitHub Actions workflows, develop internal tooling and AI agents in TypeScript, and ship production infrastructure changes daily. ROLE COMMITMENTS

• Eliminate toil through automation and self-service by building the modules and tooling that allow teams to stand up services, manage deployments, and resolve issues without routing through a platform engineer.
• Maintain platform health and delivery outcomes, including ownership of incident response and on-call management.
• Make the platform AI-native by investing heavily in modern AI-powered development workflows for routine maintenance.
• Optimize cloud platform costs across primary cloud infrastructure in AWS and third-party providers.
• Architect and advise teams to deploy novel systems including ML workflows, real-time events, and video streaming.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Own and evolve the Terraform estate at scale, including shared modules, state and versioning management, and migrations.
• Build and maintain the internal developer platform and delivery automation through GitHub Actions, ECS and Lambda deployment patterns, and AI agents for automation.
• Own and operate the core AWS platform including VPC, Transit Gateway, Route 53, CloudFront, IAM, SSO, and Secrets Manager.
• Drive reliability and operations through Datadog monitoring, participation in an on-call rotation, and incident response.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship through RFCs, design review, code review, and cross-team influence without direct reports.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Education and Basic Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in DevOps, platform engineering, or SRE.
• Deep expertise in AWS, Terraform, ECS/Fargate, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong proficiency in TypeScript with the ability to write production-quality code.
• Solid knowledge of IAM, SSO, and observability tooling.
• Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience building internal developer platforms or improving developer experience.
• Proficiency in Python.
• Experience building LLM or AI agents.
• Datadog-as-code experience.
• Familiarity with AWS Organizations, policy as code, and security posture work.
