Remote Finance & Accounting Specialist
GOAT Tutors is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Finance & Accounting Specialist to join our team on a remote basis. This role is ideal for someone with strong bookkeeping, accounting, financial reporting, and general finance experience who can work independently and maintain accurate financial records.
Position Details
- Position: Finance & Accounting Specialist
- Work Arrangement: 100% Remote
- Pay: $35–$45 per hour
- Employment Type: Part-time or contract, with potential for ongoing work
- Schedule: Flexible, with availability during U.S. business hours preferred
Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate financial and accounting records.
- Record and categorize income, expenses, invoices, and payments.
- Reconcile bank and credit-card accounts.
- Prepare monthly financial statements and management reports.
- Monitor accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Assist with budgeting, cash-flow tracking, and financial forecasting.
- Review financial transactions for accuracy and completeness.
- Maintain organized documentation and supporting financial records.
- Assist with payroll-related accounting and expense tracking.
- Support month-end and year-end closing activities.
- Identify discrepancies and resolve accounting issues promptly.
- Provide financial information and reports to management as requested.
- Maintain confidentiality of company financial information.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, finance, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of basic accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Experience with QuickBooks Online or similar accounting software.
- Strong Excel/Google Sheets skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and organization.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
- CPA, CMA, or other relevant certification.
- Experience working with small businesses, education companies, or service-based organizations.
- Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and cash-flow management.
