Job Description:

The Senior Salesforce Developer is responsible for the administration, configuration, customization, and ongoing development of DealerOn's Salesforce platform. This role combines hands-on Salesforce administration with custom application development to deliver scalable business solutions across Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Experience Cloud, Revenue Cloud, Marketing Cloud Account Engagement (Pardot), and other integrated technologies.

Working closely with business stakeholders, technical teams, and cross-functional leaders, the Senior Salesforce Developer serves as a technical leader and subject matter expert responsible for evaluating business processes, architecting and recommending scalable technical solutions, configuring declarative functionality, developing custom applications and integrations, and ensuring the Salesforce platform remains secure, performant, and maintainable. The Developer translates complex business requirements into thoughtful, sustainable technical solutions and provides technical guidance throughout the solution lifecycle, from discovery and design through development, testing, deployment, and ongoing optimization.

The Senior Salesforce Developer partners across departments to identify opportunities to improve processes, leverage Salesforce capabilities, and drive operational efficiency. This role requires sound technical judgment in determining when to utilize declarative functionality versus custom development, with a strong focus on scalability, reusability, system architecture, data integrity, security, and minimizing technical debt. The Developer also contributes to platform governance, development standards, solution design, and the continued evolution of the Salesforce ecosystem to support current and future business needs.

This is a senior-level remote position requiring a high degree of autonomy, technical expertise, business acumen, and cross-functional collaboration.

Essential Functions:

Administration

• Serve as a Salesforce Administrator responsible for the day-to-day health, maintenance, and optimization of the Salesforce platform.
• Configure and maintain objects, fields, page layouts, record types, validation rules, flows, permission sets, profiles, sharing rules, queues, public groups, and custom metadata.
• Manage user provisioning, deprovisioning, role hierarchy, permissions, and security while ensuring compliance with company policies.
• Troubleshoot user issues, investigate system errors, and provide timely resolution for Salesforce-related support requests.
• Monitor Salesforce platform health, storage, integrations, and overall system performance.
• Create and maintain reports, dashboards, and analytics to support business decision-making.
• Evaluate new Salesforce releases and recommend features that improve business processes.
• Maintain platform documentation including configuration changes, system architecture, and administrative procedures.

Development

• Serve as the technical lead for complex Salesforce projects and enhancements, including breaking requirements into technical work, estimating development effort, identifying dependencies, coordinating development activities, and proactively addressing technical risks and blockers.
• Design, develop, test, and deploy scalable Salesforce solutions using Apex, Lightning Web Components (LWC), Visualforce, SOQL, APIs, and other Salesforce technologies.
• Build custom applications utilizing Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Experience Cloud, and Revenue Cloud/CPQ.
• Develop, manage and maintain the Salesforce code repository, development lifecycle, and version control process, including organizing and maintaining source code and metadata, building branching and merging strategies, supporting code reviews, resolving merge conflicts, and ensuring changes are properly documented, tested, and promoted across Salesforce environments.
• Serve as a technical authority and escalation point for complex Salesforce development, architecture, integration, performance, and security issues.
• Make recommendations and technical decisions regarding development approaches, platform architecture, tools, integrations, and technology adoption.
• Utilize JavaScript, HTML5, CSS, Web Services, and Salesforce APIs to develop and enhance business applications.
• Investigate and resolve complex Salesforce application, automation, integration, data, and performance issues. Perform root-cause analysis and implement sustainable solutions rather than temporary fixes.
• Create and maintain comprehensive unit and integration tests and ensure adequate test coverage for development work.
• Perform code reviews and ensure adherence to Salesforce development best practices and coding standards.
• Analyze business requirements and determine the appropriate balance between declarative configuration and custom development.
• Own and drive technical solution architecture for complex Salesforce initiatives, ensuring solutions are scalable, secure, maintainable, and aligned with enterprise architecture and long-term business objectives.
• Evaluate system architecture, data models, automation, integrations, and technical dependencies to identify risks and ensure solutions will scale with evolving business requirements.
• Define technical standards and patterns for Salesforce development, integrations, automation, and data management.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to Salesforce administrators, developers, and other technical team members.
• Establish and promote development standards, coding conventions, design patterns, and engineering best practices across the Salesforce environment.
• Mentor and develop technical team members by providing guidance on architecture, solution design, development practices, troubleshooting, and technical decision-making.
• Identify legacy code, inefficient automation, outdated development patterns, and architectural limitations. Develop and prioritize remediation strategies to improve the long-term health, maintainability, and scalability of the Salesforce platform.
• Produce and maintain technical documentation for custom solutions and integrations.

• Facilitate the testing and implementation of Salesforce and JIRA tools. Includes coding, configuration, maintenance, installation, testing, and debugging, as well as managing timelines

Required Experience

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Management Information Systems, or related field or equivalent experience.
• Certifications as a Salesforce Platform Developer I and Salesforce Administrator.
• 7+ years of hands-on Salesforce development experience, with demonstrated experience designing and delivering complex enterprise Salesforce solutions.
• Demonstrated experience owning technical architecture and solution design for complex Salesforce implementations or major initiatives.
• Demonstrated experience making technical recommendations and decisions that balance business requirements, platform capabilities, scalability, security, maintainability, and technical debt.
• Experience leading development standards, code reviews, deployment practices, and technical governance within a Salesforce environment.
• Experience designing and managing integrations between Salesforce and multiple external systems.
• Experience mentoring developers and administrators and providing technical leadership within a collaborative team environment.
• Ability to independently lead complex technical initiatives from discovery and solution design through development, deployment, and post-production optimization.
• Strong understanding of Salesforce architecture, including data architecture, security model, sharing, automation, integration patterns, governor limits, platform limits, and performance considerations.
• Ability to evaluate competing technical approaches and clearly articulate recommendations, tradeoffs, risks, and long-term implications to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

This position is open to US residents only.

The targeted salary range for this position is $95,700 - $144,200.

The posted salary range for this position may be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as experience and training; internal pay equity; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility.
