Why this grade
This listing scored 52/100, which is a D. It lost the most ground on pay transparency.
- Freshness 15 / 15 How recently it was posted. Older postings are likelier to be filled or abandoned.
- Remote clarity 15 / 15 Whether "remote" means anywhere, or is quietly restricted to one country.
- Description depth 14 / 20 How much the posting actually says about the work, measured in characters of real text.
- Corroboration 5 / 10 Whether more than one source carries this listing.
- Role specificity 3 / 10 Whether the listing is tagged well enough to tell what the role actually is.
- Pay transparency 0 / 25 A published salary range, worth more than any other single factor because it is what a candidate cannot find out without applying.
Every figure above is arithmetic over the posting itself — its salary field, its text, its age, its tags and how many sources carry it. How the grades work →

I build data tools, from the dataframe backend to the browser.
I created and maintain Buckaroo (https://github.com/paddymul/buckaroo), an open source dataframe UI for Jupyter, marimo, and VSCode — summary stats and a histogram over every column, across pandas and polars. 683 stars. Scrolling millions of rows without eating the browser took a segment-merging row cache and parquet decoded client side.
Recently: Tallyman, a data science environment for coding agents. Named computations in a dependency DAG, results rendered live in a browser companion, every step keeping the prompt that made it. Demoed at PyData London 2026.
Before that: Flatfile, Attune, Tudor, and Bokeh/Wakari at Anaconda.
Looking for data infrastructure, developer tools, or agent tooling — where a hard backend problem has to surface as something a person can use.
