Why this grade
This listing scored 53/100, which is a D. It lost the most ground on pay transparency.
- Description depth 20 / 20 How much the posting actually says about the work, measured in characters of real text.
- Freshness 15 / 15 How recently it was posted. Older postings are likelier to be filled or abandoned.
- Corroboration 10 / 10 Whether more than one source carries this listing.
- Remote clarity 8 / 15 Whether "remote" means anywhere, or is quietly restricted to one country.
- Role specificity 0 / 10 Whether the listing is tagged well enough to tell what the role actually is.
- Pay transparency 0 / 25 A published salary range, worth more than any other single factor because it is what a candidate cannot find out without applying.
Every figure above is arithmetic over the posting itself — its salary field, its text, its age, its tags and how many sources carry it. How the grades work →
About DataCamp
DataCamp's mission is to empower everyone with the data and AI skills essential for 21st-century success. By providing practical, engaging learning experiences, DataCamp equips learners and organizations of all sizes to harness the power of data and AI. As a trusted partner to over 19 million learners and 8,000+ companies, including 80% of the Fortune 1000, DataCamp is leading the charge in addressing the critical data and AI skills shortage.
DataCamp trains thousands of people in data and AI at the same time. We do it through an interactive learning platform where people learn by doing, working hands-on in the browser with real data and real tools, self-paced, with feedback as they go. There is nothing else quite like it at that scale, and for most customers it is the whole answer.
A growing set of enterprises wants more around it. They are running company-wide data and AI programs, and they value the blend: the platform at the core for scale, with live delivery, custom content, assessment, and executive enablement wrapped around it. That blend is what large organizations will pay a premium for, and it is what makes us the partner rather than a vendor on a list. Professional Services is how we deliver it, and very few companies can. We own the curriculum, we have the instructors and solution architects who can teach it and tailor it, we can assess and certify what people actually learned, and we have the platform underneath to take it to an entire workforce. Most competitors have one or two of those and buy in the rest.
The opportunity is ahead of us. Our professional services offering already runs from AI and data literacy for whole organizations, through company-wide enablement on the AI tools they have just rolled out, to executive programs and deep technical training for experienced data scientists and engineers. We have delivered a lot of it, to demanding enterprise customers, and it works. Right now demand is greater than what we can support and we are booked out months in advance. We are looking for someone to help us scale that and build it out further.
We are hiring a VP of Professional Services to own it end to end. Go to market and delivery, the offering itself, revenue and margin, team and process. Think of this as a partner role at a consultancy rather than a services manager. You see things through from the first conversation to the last session, and you are end responsible for how they land.
What you'll own
You own a business line. Like a partner at a consultancy firm, you carry the P&L: bookings, revenue, and gross margin, with the platform revenue a program pulls through counting as much as the services number itself. You carry the team that makes that possible too, and building a strong one is part of the job.
Part of the role is commercial. A lot of the growth sits inside accounts we already have. You lead the Professional Services account executives, and you work closely with the account executives who sell the platform, since they are in front of those customers every week. Helping them recognize a program opportunity, qualifying it properly before work starts, and getting a proposal back quickly is what turns interest into revenue. On the accounts that matter most, you are in the room yourself.
Delivery matters as much. Programs are designed and delivered together with our Learning Solutions Architects, project management, and a bench of external instructors. You set the standard the work is held to, and how the team is set up to meet it, including how we cover domains we cannot staff internally today. Ownership runs end to end, from the first commercial conversation through to what the client says about the program afterwards.
Running through both is the offering itself. You work out which programs to lead with, how they are packaged, and what they should cost us and the client, so that what we sell is repeatable rather than reinvented for every account.
What we're looking for
- Deep in the data and AI space, with delivery experience in it. You have taught, implemented, or built solutions yourself, and you can hold a conversation from AI literacy to Claude Code to data engineering and Databricks. A purely commercial services leader will not succeed here.
- At least 10 years in professional services, consulting, or enterprise delivery.
- A partner, not an administrator. You have sold and delivered your own engagements, sat in the pricing conversation, and stayed accountable for the result after the contract was signed.
- P&L literacy. Margin, utilization, cost of delivery, and pricing are things you reason about directly, not things you ask finance to explain.
- Credible with technical people. On the buyer side, where the people deciding are often practitioners and the ones who will judge whether our content is any good. And on our own side, where you need senior instructors and solution architects to want to work with you.
- A builder of process people actually follow. The hard part sits at the seams between sales, customer success, and delivery. You fix that by designing the handoff and enforcing it, not by writing a document.
- Built for our stage. Small team, limited support structure, founders close to the work. You will be designing the function and personally running the hardest engagements at the same time.
