Welocalize is headquartered in New York with offices worldwide. welocalize.comROLE OVERVIEWThe Spanish (LATAM) Linguist performs translation and copy-editing tasks for assigned projects and accounts, ensuring consistent, high-quality deliverables. They will coordinate with freelance linguists and partner agencies, maintain and improve language resources, resolve terminology and usage queries, and collaborate with internal teams to streamline workflows and drive continuous improvement.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Perform copy-edit tasks on assigned projects or accountsPerform on-demand translation tasksProvide lead support on assigned projects or accountsManage and maintaining all language assets (glossaries, style guides, work instructions), ensuring they meet quality standards and remain current for each account or project Manage project-related queriesEnsure good interaction among team members and resolving questions on terminology and language mattersDevelop and training of internal linguists and external partners according to the accounts’ and Welocalize’s needsInteract with clients on linguistic matters as neededParticipate in the development of new and improved working processesMeet or exceed the KPIs in terms of productivity, on time delivery, and qualityAchieve the goals set by the team managerREQUIREMENTSEducation Level Bachelor’s degree in Translation, Applied Languages, Linguistics, or a related field; alternatively, a bachelor’s in another discipline plus at least 2 years of full-time translation experience, or a minimum of 5 years of full-time professional translation experience in lieu of a degree. Experience Native fluency in Latam Spanish Fluency in English—both written and spoken—with strong command across multiple registers 4+ years of experience in translation, localization, editing or content writing2+ years of review experienceThorough understanding localization processesGood user experience of standard softwares, such as Windows and Office applicationsSolid working proficiency with standard CAT tools (e.g., XTM, Trados Studio) and issue tracking/query management platforms (e.g., Jira)Ability to quickly learn new localization tools and applications Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skillsExcellent knowledge of terminology used in two or more subject mattersAbility to work with tight deadlinesAbility to give clear, concise and constructive feedbackAbility to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and linguistsAbility to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization existsAbility to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule formsAbility and motivation to train, mentor, and share knowledge with others Ability, willingness and experience in communicating positively with customers at various levelsAbility to work within a virtual teamOriginally posted on Himalayas
