About the Role

AmeriSave is a mid-size financial services company running a high-volume Microsoft SQL Server environment, and we are investing heavily in the long-term stability, transparency, performance, and scalability of our data platform. We are hiring a senior, hands-on engineer to lead that effort.

This is a combined reliability-and-performance role for an engineer who is equally comfortable owning the observability and incident-response practice across the estate and getting deep into execution plans and wait statistics to keep the platform fast and resilient underload. You will be the technical center of gravity for the database platform: the person who ensures we see issues early, leads the response when they arise, and engineers durable solutions so they do not recur.

Responsibilities:

• Manage SQL Server databases on Prem and in Azure cloud environments (Iaas/PaaS)

• Recommend short-term and long-term strategic plans to ensure database infrastructure meets existing and future requirements.

• Define and propose policies, procedures, and associated maintenance plans for DBMS resource administration and appropriate use.

• Configure and maintain database servers and processes

• Monitor system's health and performance

• Ensure high levels of performance, availability, sustainability and security

• Analyze, solve, and correct issues in real time

• Provide suggestions for solutions

• Refine and automate regular processes, track issues, and document changes

• Assist developers with query tuning and schema refinement

• Provide 24x7 support for critical production systems

• Perform scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities after hours

• Off-Hours production support (call rotation) is required for this position.

Requirements:

• 7+ years of experience as a SQL Server DBA

• SSIS, SSAS, and SSRS administration

• Experience with Performance Tuning and Optimization

• Database stored procedure, trigger, and index creation and tuning

• Experience with backups, restores and recovery models

• Experience of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for SQL Server

• Experience supporting a development team in a production environment

• Strong troubleshooting with SQL Server Profiler, Database Engine Tuning Advisor, Performance Monitor, and Query Store

• Database stored procedure, trigger, and index creation and tuning

• Failover Clustering (Always On: FCI & AG) design and configuration

• Sense of ownership and pride in your performance and its impact on company's success

• Critical thinker and problem-solving skills

• Team player

• Good time-management skills

• Great interpersonal and communication skills

• Experience with Azure SQL (preferred)

• Experience with Foglight, Redgate, and other SQL Server 3rd party tools (preferred)

• Certifications are a plus

• High-speed internet required for remote work, Cable or Fiber ONLY with the ability to connect via Ethernet. Minimum speeds: 70/30 Mbps (basic), 200-300/35-70 Mbps (shared), 500-1,000/100+ Mbps (heavy use).
