SAP TM S/4HANA Rollout Consultant, Portugal

Contract: 6 months initially, extensible. Long-term programme. Start: 1 November 2026 Location: Remote, for consultants based in Portugal. Day rate: EUR 350 a day. Language: English.

The programme

A global manufacturing organisation is moving its transportation processes onto SAP Transportation Management (TM) on S/4HANA. The global template is the base, and it is being rolled out to sites in waves. Each wave brings new plants, new carriers and new country requirements into the template.

You will own the TM solution for the waves you are given. You will run fit-to-standard sessions with the business, decide what the template already covers and what is a real local gap, and design the answer without breaking the global standard. You will then carry that design through build, testing, cutover and early support after go-live.

What you will work on

Fit-gap for each rollout wave. Local transport practice, carriers, legal and document needs measured against the global design. TM solution design on S/4HANA. Freight planning, carrier selection and tendering, freight order execution, charge calculation and freight settlement. Integration across the S/4HANA logistics chain. Outbound sales orders and deliveries, inbound purchasing flows, warehouse execution, and freight cost through to finance. Carrier connectivity. EDI or business network onboarding, tracking, and status messages from carriers. Functional specifications for the build team, working closely with integration, development and test leads. Test planning and defect resolution through integration and user acceptance testing. Cutover, hypercare and handover to support for each wave. Feeding what each wave teaches back into the template, so the next wave starts from a better base.

What you bring

8 or more years in SAP logistics, with SAP TM on S/4HANA as a core part of it. At least one TM rollout or global template programme for a manufacturing business, where you did the fit-gap and the solution design yourself, not only the configuration. Working knowledge of how TM connects to SD, MM, EWM and FI/CO, and where those integrations tend to break. Experience running workshops with business users and turning what they say into a design and a specification. Comfort working remotely across countries in a programme team made up of several companies.

Useful but not essential:

SAP Business Network for Logistics, or a carrier visibility platform. Both embedded and side-by-side TM deployments. Automotive, industrial or process manufacturing. Multimodal, international or dangerous goods transport. SAP TM certification.

How to respond

Apply with your CV and your available start date. With it, add three lines on your most recent TM rollout: the countries or sites in scope, whether TM was embedded or side-by-side, and what you personally designed.
