• Job type: Full-time contractor
• Workplace: Remote
• Schedule: Monday to Friday, aligned with US Pacific Time (PST)
• Compensation: $1,300 to $1,400 per month, depending on experience
About HireHawk
HireHawk connects skilled professionals with US companies for long-term remote roles. We are looking for proactive people who take ownership of their work and want to grow with a stable team.
About the role
Our client is an established plaintiff personal injury firm in Los Angeles that focuses on premises liability cases (slip-and-fall and trip-and-fall). Its cases are worked up in litigation for full value, so complete medical documentation matters on every file.
You will be the records specialist for a group of case managers. Your job is to request medical records and bills for their cases and follow up until every file is complete.
Responsibilities
• Request medical records, medical bills and related documents from hospitals, clinics, imaging centers and other providers.
• Follow up consistently on outstanding requests until the records arrive.
• Upload, label and organize documents in the firm's case management software.
• Keep a tracking log of pending requests and follow-ups so the case managers can see what is missing.
• Flag documentation gaps on each case to the assigned case manager.
• Send and track HIPAA authorizations and other records release forms.
• Process incoming faxes and electronic records and route them to the right file.
• Protect client confidentiality at all times.
Requirements
Must-Have:
• Experience at a US personal injury law firm requesting medical records and medical bills.
• Strong written and spoken English, for calls and emails with medical providers.
• Organized and persistent, able to handle a high volume of requests and follow-ups across many cases on your own.
• Comfortable with Microsoft Office or Google Workspace and a legal case management platform.
• Full-time availability during US Pacific business hours, with reliable internet and a dedicated workspace.
Nice-to-Have:
• Experience supporting several case managers at once.
• Premises liability case experience.
• Experience working through remote desktop access to a firm's systems.
